Global Book Blogger Directory – Announcement!

If you follow me on Twitter you probably already know that I’ve been playing with the idea of creating a new book blogger directory: one that features bloggers categorized by their geographical place.

I know there are already existing directories similar to this: I haven’t yet found any, though, that has EVERYONE, from all over the world. I know e.g. about the asian one, and the australian one has been pointed out to me. But what I have in mind is to have a directory where it is possible to search bloggers by country and continent! With all the different countries and continents we live and create on.

Now, it is possible that there is one, or even more sites hidden in the jungle of Internet somewhere. I cannot possibly have seen or the corners of it. What I can say, though, is that in the last fast two years I’ve become quite familiar with a huge part of the book blogging world, and if I haven’t come across a directory like this, that means that probably a lot of other book bloggers are in my shoes.

This would be a lot of work, and I don’t know how much time will I need to set it all up – with my job, it’s not at all easy, so I wanted at first to size up interest – I made a poll on Twitter.

(Thank you guys for sharing and voting! It really means a lot. The book blogger community has proved again that we are a great team!)

Here’re the results:

124 people voted (!), and may I say that the idea seems to be a success! (I should now simply make it real…) 85% said they would definitely sign up, and 13% more said they would maybe be a part of it. That’s wonderful! Only two percent had no interest in the idea at all, and NOONE said they would never, ever sign up. I’m so happy!

That means more than 100 bloggers wanna sign up, and I also got some support from the author/publicity site, saying that they would like this way of searching for new bloggers.

So…. IT’S ON!

I’m doing it.

Setting up the whole site may take a bit, but when it starts, I want it to already have some material, so sometime in the next couple of days I will come with a sign-up form for bloggers who trust me enough to sign up blind (thanks in advance, guys!) – well, half-blind, because I will show off as much as I already can from the directory! (I know it’s a lot to ask, but I need a couple of bloggers to really see what works on the site. I get, though, if you don’t want it that way at all. One or two is already enough to set it up, then of course the sign-ups will continue endlessly. Anyways, we’re not there yet!)

I’m so excited about doing this! The reason I first thought about it wasn’t to help authors, in fact the idea came to me because I was thinking about how little I know about all the book bloggers out in the world – we probably all state on our blogs where we are from, but honestly, do you really remember all that stuff about everyone? I remember a lot, I know where the bloggers I’m have the most contact with are from, but there are so many bloggers I marginally know of, sometimes read one or two posts from, but there’s no possible way of keeping track of where everyone creates from. I don’t even know of those who are Hungarian as I am! (Even after thinking about it, I can only say I know two for sure.) It would be so nice to see a list where everyone comes from, how many comes from a place… or for example to look up who comes from the country you visit during holidays, just for fun! (Hopefully this one will soon be an option again…)

And then I thought: there are so many problems with choosing the right bloggers for a review: problems with shipping, legal stuff about release in a country… it must be sometimes really hard to find the right audience, one that’s not only interested, but also available for the job. I wanted to give a chance for authors and publishers to make the list of reviewers as broad as it is possible. If you search by country, you might find some bloggers you otherwise wouldn’t have found. You can search all the countries where you can legally and technically send a book to and ask for a review! And if you send out “only” ebooks, you can even choose a blogger from countries of all continents – then you will know for sure that your feedback IS representative.

God, I hope this will work! I can’t wait to do this!

I will come soon with the next update.

Have a great day!

Hugs 🙂

    1. I’m happy you like it!😊 It’s okay, it was only a poll for me to see if there’s real interest for this. Every bigger update will be up here on my blog! 😉
