‘Bloom Where You’re Planted’ by Lasairiona McMaster

I’ve already featured this book, ‘Bloom Where You’re Planted’, before on my blog. That time unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to finish reading it, so I only posted a book blitz as part of the blog tour. If you’d like to see that post and get to know more about this book and its author, click HERE!

Otherwise, here are my thoughts about it after finally having read it!

Discovery:

I’ve got this book from Rachel’s Random Resources for the purpose of the blog tour. I wanted to read it the moment I saw the blurb! It was exactly at the time I was moving abroad, so it seemed to be the perfect read for me.

Brainstorm:

This is a fun and easy-to-read book with many funny stories, but it doesn’t lack depth when it comes to the hard part of living in a foreign country. There were many things that I could relate to, though, to be honest, much less than I expected to. The differences came from the mere fact that I moved because of my own job (and my partner’s…which is the same, since we’re both doctors), I had to find my own job to get by, and the author went with her husband’s company. So, more difficulty on my part with finding a place (and not that much of an expat community), but at least in my case, it is completely my choice, and not my employer’s. Otherwise, there are many similarities.

I loved reading the most of this book, though I have to admit that by the end I was a bit bored. It didn’t get flat with time, it’s not that, but I felt it was a bit repetitive. I had the feeling “I’ve read that before”. All in all, this book is still a must read for anyone planning a move to the unknown.

Let’s Give It a Grade!

  1. Topic unfolding: 5/5
  2. Style: 3/5
  3. The Subjective Factor: 4/5
  • GPA: 4

Uniqueness:

The author talks to expats, a very unique branch of people. It’s a lifestyle, and it’s a feeling of life, a unique kind of perspective that most of the people doesn’t have.

Recommend to:

All expats and people who’re thinking about becoming one.

Drink tip:

Cocktails. Any kind you like.

Music room:

‘Life for Rent’ by Dido

Future:

I don’t know if the author plans on writing more books, but if yes, I’d give them a chance.

Have you read this book?

What do you think of living abroad? Have you tried it? What are your experiences?

Let’s talk!! I can’t wait to read your comments on this.

Have a great day!

Hugs 🙂
